What materials can be ultrasonic welded?

Amorphous polymer (ABS, PC, PS, PVC, PMMA, etc.): the molecular arrangement is disordered, there is an obvious material gradually soft, melting, and flow temperature. Such resins are generally effective at transmitting supersonic vibrations and achieving good welding over a fairly wide range of pressures/amplitudes.

Crystalline polymer (PE, PP, POM, PA6, PA66, PBT, PET, etc.): the molecular arrangement is orderly, with an obvious melting point and refreezing point. Solid crystalline polymers are elastic and can absorb some of the high-frequency mechanical vibrations. Therefore, this kind of polymer is not easy to transmit ultrasonic vibration energy to the bonding surface, requiring higher amplitude, high energy to break the semi-crystalline structure and make the material from the crystalline state to the viscous state, which also determines the obvious melting point of this kind of material. Once the molten material leaves the heat source, a decrease in temperature causes rapid solidification of the material.

Generally speaking, it is difficult (but not impossible) to weld non-polar compounds (such as PP and PE) with ultrasonic, but polar compounds can be welded with ultrasonic, and between polar compounds can also be welded with ultrasonic, such as between ABS and PMMA.
